The Olympia Quarter is the municipality of Almere’s vision for a highly developed urban neighbourhood. The design vocabulary for this district is based upon stoere city blocks arranged along a simple street pattern. The interior gardens were conceived as places for rest and reflection: a clear contrast with the street characteristics. That said, certain public programs also open on to the gardens. The primary ’atmospheric driver’ for the gardens is the maple.
