Philips wished to physically expand its technology campus while at the same time boost its international image. A one square kilometre area around the old physics lab (housed there since 1959) was allocated for this purpose. The design included new construction and renovation of R & D facilities for Philips and "friends of Philips". The Brabant landscape formed the basis of the campus design. Five landscape typologies were used to drive the urban development, which allowed the required 4000 parking spaces located in green parks at the campus periphery. The heart of the campus is formed by the Strip, located along the central lake, and where all collective functions are brought together. location: Eindhoven, The Netherlands design period: 1998 - 2016 implementation: 2000 - area: 90 ha program: 130.000m2 renovation office-lab buildings, 220.000m2 new office-lab buildings + additional program designed by: Juurlink [+] Geluk (Cor Geluk, Huub Juurlink, Simone de Bergh, Mattijs Gevers, Christina K.
