On Thursday July the 5th the SfA organized a symposium with the theme Landscape and Urbanism. Goal of the symposium was to look forward to the next ten to twenty years. How can the young generation of landscape architects contribute to new (urban) projects?
Cor had the honor to give his point of view on the future of landscape architecture. What strikes him on current developments is that a growing number of projects are originated from a bottom-up principle. Nothing wrong with that, but there is a tendency to forget that the type of employer and user is different compared to former times. Cor also gave the tip to keep looking from a wider perspective. As a landscape architect and urbanist you have the task to adapt local initiatives in a greater vision and are allowed and challenged to look beyond the borders of their own plan.
