The dynamic bus station at Central Station in Eindhoven was a wild collection of signs, awnings, bins, bollards and bicycles. Oddly enough, the canopies under which passengers were supposed to wait were positioned on the platforms next to the busses. This led to a unique situation in which the place where passengers waited for a bus was not always the place where the bus would arrive! In renovating the bus station, these quirks and peculiarities were taken care of by introducing a new piece of furniture: a large canopy. This bus shelter contained lighting, clocks, bus schedules, benches, and guides for the blind as well as bus platform information. A simple paving pattern and the introduction of trees give this Eindhoven transferium a calm and spacious atmosphere. location: Eindhoven design period: 2002 implementation: 2005 area: 13000m² designed by: Juurlink [+] Geluk (Huub Juurlink, Cor Geluk, Jeroen van Kesteren, Marcel van der Meys, Kristien Vanmerhaege, Dirry de Bruin) in cooperation with: Broersma Engineers commissioned by: City of Eindhoven
